Leaflet Drop Distribution Companies

There are several types of leaflet_distribution companies and it is important when deciding how you want to progress your marketing campaign that you know which type you want to deal with.

Firstly, there are leaflet distribution companies who employ ‘teams’ of distributors and transport several teams to different areas, covering the area en masse and hitting most residential property within that postcode sector. This type of distribution is particularly effective if you want a very hard hitting campaign whereby the old saying ‘throw enough mud at the wall and something sticks’ really does come into play.

There is often very little ‘filtering’ of property involved with this type of leaflet distribution but it is very effective if you are marketing a product or service which appeals to most types of household. You can keep the costs of marketing your product or service down with this type of mass marketing by finding a company who provide customers with a ‘shareplan’ option. This means that your leaflet goes out with up to five other non competing companies’ leaflets therefore providing you with a leaflet distribution service which is much cheaper than ‘solus distribution’ (your leaflet going out on its own).

If you can find a company that offers a discount for bulk orders for shareplan then you can really optimize your return on investment. Even better, if you can find a company who provide a bulk discount for you having your leaflets delivered anywhere regardless of geography or demographic criteria then your costs for leaflet distribution will be very low. There are a couple of downsides to this type of leaflet distribution method. Firstly, there can be a reduced level of ‘accountability’ from individual leaflet deliverers given the often large numbers of team members delivering leaflets into an area at any one time.

Complaints or mistakes are nt so easily attributed to the individual who delivered the leaflet. Secondly, if this type of distribution goes wrong, it could go very wrong given the large quantity of leaflets being delivered. A ‘rogue’ distributor poorly delivering thousands of leaflets over a week (e.g. several leaflets in each letterbox to reduce the quantity they have to deliver or delivering thousands to a recycling bin!) could produce very poor results. Thirdly, mass distribution is much harder to measure as a rule as factors such as demography or geography are generally not taken into consideration.

Secondly, there are leaflet distribution companies who recruit and vet individual self employed leaflet distributors and test them prior to allowing them to deliver for customers. These distributors are not employed by the company and operate locally to their address. They often know their local area really well and as they are often the only distributor working with the leaflet distribution company in that area are much more accountable as any complaints or drops in response are much easier to ‘pin’ on a particular distributor.

Often these type of leaflet distribution companies only allow an individual distributor to deliver to say, a thousand households per week in a particular postcode sector and move them around in a rolling quarterly cycle delivering to different properties in particular areas. This type of distribution is particularly good for companies wishing to isolate certain postcode sectors based on the demographics of the area or geography with regards to their locality to the business having leaflets delivered for them.
